Lately it has been mentioned many times in our community that it is time for us to move into a telepathic community. It is not a coincidence that I felt the urge to read “Mutant Message Down Under” by Marlo Morgan. The book describes an encounter of the author with a highly spiritual group of aboriginal people and the lessons she learned from them during a walk-about in the desert.
Seeing that this group lives by the same spiritual principals we are using really touches my heart. I feel that this book is a reflection of the readiness of our Mind, a sign of where we are heading towards and a demonstration of what it means to live in a telepathic community.
We all know that communication is beyond words. When someone speaks, what resonates with the audience is not the word, but the presence behind it, the attitude and light one carries and shines. When words are given from the place of alignment with the Spirit, it is He who speaks.
The aboriginal tribe that the author encountered is called “Real People”. They communicate telepathically: they tell stories to each other telepathically, and communicate about logistics each day telepathically. They believe that the voice was not designed for talking, but for singing.
The reason that they can communicate telepathically is because they never tell a single lie, not even partial truth. They hide nothing and therefore are not afraid to have their mind open to each other to give and receive information. While the author was practicing the telepathic communication, she realized that as soon as she tried to hide anything in her mind or her heart, she could not do that anymore.
If telepathy is natural to us, then hiding prohibits us from being in our natural state. Judgement and guilt go hand in hand. When we still hold onto judgement in our mind and harbor guilt, we cannot be completely honest. Perfect honesty is a very high state of mind. Jesus mentioned in the Course that true honesty means that “There is nothing you say that contradicts what you think or do; no thought opposes any other thought; no act belies your word; and no word lacks agreement with another.” And “the peace of mind which the advanced teachers of God experience is largely due to their perfect honesty.”
All the practice we have been doing about sharing private thoughts is a training to allow everything we have been suppressing to come to the awareness and look at them with the Holy Spirit with love and letting Him be the only “interpreter”. It is a fundamental starting point to be open to give and receive freely at the level of mind.
If perfect honesty or total consistency is the key to telepathic communication, then surrendering every decision to let it be for the best of the Whole is a quick way to undoing the self-concept, any guilt and judgement associated with it and any fear around being completely transparent and consistent.
I remember that I reached a point where I realized that every decision I made had brought me pain and truly I didn’t know how to make myself happy. I thought I would humbly allow decisions to be made for me by the Holy Spirit, even though sometime the ego may scream that “total surrender will result in self sacrifice”.
The mind that is heavily identified with the individual body and mind has no idea what the Whole is and what is the best of the Whole. All it knows is how to protect, defend and glorify itself. Since we are all deeply connected with each other, any thoughts or behaviors that are motivated by excluding others will bring us pain. Any thoughts or behaviors that are based on self-indulgence or self-protection will bring us pain. Why? Because such thoughts and behaviors strengthen separation and strengthen the individual self that doesn’t really exist. Hence they keep fear and guilt and take us further away from recognizing our true Identity. When the core of our Being is crying out for God, it is crying out for the recognition of Oneness, of Union, of Inclusion of everyone who is part of the One. The experience of our true Identity cannot be brought by any thoughts or behaviors that are sponsored by fear. Only when we make decisions in alignment with the Holy Spirit’s Guidance for the Whole, the result will be in alignment with God’s will for us – perfect happiness.
When Marlo Morgan demonstrated a game to the “Real People”, where they all run as fast as they could and the one who runs the fastest becomes the winner, they looked at her intently and asked “how it can be fun if one person’s win means everyone else loses, and how we could submit someone in such an experience and convince him that he was truly a winner?” It is unfathomable to them that one can be happy when others lose. We can never be convinced in our heart that we will reach happiness through becoming better or having more than others. There is no separate self-interest. What makes one truly happy makes the whole universe truly happy.
In the Course, Jesus defines the teacher of God as follows: “His qualifications consist solely in this; somehow, somewhere he has made a deliberate choice in which he did not see his interests as apart from someone else’s. Once he has done that, his road is established and his direction is sure. A light has entered the darkness. It may be a single light, but that is enough. He has entered an agreement with God even if he does not yet believe in Him. He has become a bringer of salvation. He has become a teacher of God.”
One time, I was pondering on a line from the Course: “Holy Spirit, Decide for God for me,” and it dawned on me that practically, it also means “Holy Spirit, Decide for the Whole for me.” I don’t know how to decide for the Whole, but the Holy Spirit does. And to pray to the Holy Spirit to decide for the Whole is eventually for my best interest. Let this be our prayer today, and let us immerse completely in His will that is our only source of joy!!!
